Where it all Began
Kelly European Freight was established in 1997 by brothers Adrian and Patrick Kelly. Their thriving horticulture wholesale business needed a more reliable method of transportation from their depot in Holland to their warehouse in Ireland. Having been frustrated by the unreliability of local transport companies they decided that the only way to perfect the service they required was to do it themselves.
Kelly European Freight started with one rigid lorry, one tractor unit ,one trailer and just three members of staff.
In striving to provide that reliable service that they required, they found that other businesses also wanted their goods transported using a company with a fine attention to detail and the ability to get it there when they needed it. From this they have grown steadily and now have a fleet of over 40 tractor units, over 50 split temperature refrigerated trailers and over 50 dedicated and skilled members of staff.
Over the Years
With an ever-increasing demand ,the company decided that along with it's sister company KFW Group Ltd, they would move to a purpose built 50,000 square foot premises at Knockmore Hill Industrial Park in Lisburn. The facilities there give them up to the minute loading and unloading with short term storage. The company specialises in refrigerated transport with dual temperature control trailers allowing a combination of chilled, frozen or ambient goods to be transported on the same trailer if required.
The management team has a very hands on approach whether it's logistical planning, talking to customers, brushing out a trailer or helping to change a tyre.
Ensuring that the wheels are always turning is part of everyone’s job. To keep their vehicles on the road twenty-four hours a day seven days a week, Kelly European Freight has also established an on-site workshop to keep the back-bone of their business in first class condition.
